David Carson: Type Rule Breaker is a book that is designed to showcase the aesthetic design of the designer David Carson. David Carson uses type as an image and more of an elemental piece to a design rather than just a supplemental piece. His take on design is to give just the information that the viewer needs to know. Due to his point of view on information, he tends to cut information off or leave it out. He will make the designs “dirty” in a sense.
This book is a short biography of David Carson that is meant to be read. The intention of my design is to create a typical book structure along with the traditional setup of body text. With the information set up traditionally, feature Carson’s design aesthetic through different typographical elements that textually and visually describe the different approaches to type treatment he uses in his designs.
